Mission Statement
This procedure was developed specifically, to be a useful
procedure for the extraction of gold and platinum group
metals or their associated mineral forms from relatively concentrated ores. The
intent was for the various steps to be simple enough to be usable by essentially
anyone, using simple equipment, with chemicals that are readily available and
are not unreasonably toxic, hazardous, or expensive. The process does not
require any elaborate monitoring equipment, relying primarily on color changes
to indicate the proper reaction conditions at various stages within the process.
Situations for Which This
Process is Appropriate
- Extraction of gold and/or platinum group metals from
black sand or raw ore, when the gold is small enough that it is not readily visible
- Extraction of gold and/or platinum group metals from
black sand or raw ore, when the gold is small enough that it is not practical or not
desirable to use mechanical or hydraulic techniques
- Extraction of gold and/or platinum group metals from
black sand when other leaching processes are inefficient, not practical, or
not desirable
- Extraction of gold and/or platinum group metals from
computer scrap without using aqua regia
- Extraction of gold and/or platinum group metals from jewelry scrap without
using aqua regia
